The name Ink & Icing came from two of my favorite things: words and treats. As readers, we all know the joy of curling up with a good book—and let’s be honest, it’s even better when you’ve got a little something on the side. Whether it’s coffee, candy, or a slice of cake you swore you wouldn’t eat, stories just feel sweeter with a snack.

But here’s the thing: the decline in literacy around the world is real, and for those of us who live and breathe books, it’s heartbreaking. Reading and writing are more than hobbies—they’re the roots of creativity, empathy, and community. And that’s exactly what Ink & Icing is about.

Our dream is to open a brick-and-mortar space in Jersey City, NJ: the city’s very first bookshop/bar/café. A place where new readers and lifelong bookworms can gather, sip lattes or cocktails, share stories, discover new voices, and fall back in love with the written word.

At Ink & Icing, we believe that books and community belong together—and we’re here to bring back the art and joy of reading, one story (and snack) at a time.
